New Hampshire Westboro Yard Expansion Proposals
The Lebanon round house is structurally unsound
and in rapid decay. Its was originally designed to house, turn
and service steam
locomotives. It is not ideally designed to service modern railroad
equipment. The Claremont Concord Railroad's interest in historic
preservation and
conservation
demanded
that every option was explored to preserve this building. Several
concepts were explored for possible reuse.
The
study below shows the building preserved for bulk storage and
the grounds
used as a transload staging area. The building fate is still
uncertain with estimated costs to simply stabilize the building
in excess of a million dollars.

The
small building at the far right is the locomotive sand house which
is expected to be restored by the Lebanon Historical
Society.
