Lebanon New Hampshire Westboro Yard Expansion Proposals

The community of Lebanon has a shared interest in the future development of this historic rail yard with the Claremont Concord railroad. The proposal to build a cement transfer facility in a vacant spot within this rail yard was a politically sensitive issue.

In order to convey the railroad’s intent for this vacant land it was believed that a “picture” would be better than an artistic illustration could assist the community to better understand the project. Less than a day was available to complete this effort.

Digital video was used to quickly record several pans of the vacant yard. This video was stitched together to create a single digital image of the vacant land. Texture images of several building materials and scene objects were collected or scanned.

Referring to aerial photography, maps and drawings of the proposed building the still image was digitally edited in several renditions. (The final images were of considerably higher resolution than the following samples).

Step 1. Base Photo was made from digital video frames stitched together.

Step 2. Added scanned images of equipment and material textures to compose scene.
(First Generation of art considered open base of building with exposed transload equipment.)

Published version of proposal looks very much like today's approved and existing building.
